This study was carried out during the winter season (November 2022 to March 2023) to control whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci Genn.) (Aleyrodidae: Hemiptera) in a brinjal variety Patio Baby F1 field. The abundance of whiteflies was variable and fluctuated at the vegetative plant growth stage. Bio-insecticides such as Biomax M 1.2 EC (Abamectin), Fizimite (Sodium lauryl ether sulphate), Fytomax (Azadirachtin), Spinomax (broth of Saccharopolyspora spinosa + Bacillus thuringiensis Kurstaki), and Fytoclean (Potassium salt of fatty acid), along with chemical insecticide Voliam Flexi (Chlorantraniliprole + Thiamethoxam), were applied in the field to control whiteflies. Spinomax was found the most effective, providing the lowest plant infestation (0.53 whiteflies/plant), the lowest leaf damage (2.31% leaf infestation), and the lowest abundance (0.61 whitefly/infested leaf). Spinomax is a microbial insecticide made of the bacterial culture broth of Saccharopolyspora spinosa and Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki. However, Voliam Flexi 300 SC resulted in 1.13 whiteflies/plant, 4.08% leaf infestation, and 1.02 whiteflies/infested leaf. Therefore, Spinomax may be a non-toxic alternative to toxic insecticides for controlling whiteflies in brinjal fields.
